This place is 20 kilometres far from the nearest village. And the nearest villiage is 50 kilometers of offroad from the nearest asphalt. Here are some photos from this abandoned soviet military station and from the road up there.

The devastation only really revealed itself in the spring: the combination of humidity and cold had finally reduced the cars, which weren't in the best condition in the first place, to rusty scrap metal. As the locals had resorted to using an alternative road through the village, the road became totally overgrown with weeds and ivy and trees grew up around the queue of cars. The 'alternative' road became the main road, and the main road a scrap yard.

| Uckange Blast Furnace |
Four blast furnaces were built between 1890-1891 and 1897-1898 at Uckange by the Stumm brothers. At that time Uckange and the Lorrain region belonged to Germany but following the world war 1 the factory became French and was renamed to « Forges et Aciéries de Lorraine » - Lorraines' Foundries and Steelworks.The factory had at most six blast furnaces which were renovated many times during the XXth century. The Lorfonte Factories, the site’s final name, peaked at 2800 steel workers producing 400,000 tons of cast iron per year!
The cast iron produced was mainly for molding - delivering countless applications. Raw materials were initially sourced from the local mines and carried to the site through miles of aerial conveyors. Later the coal was imported from Poland or Brazil which reduced operating costs.The N°4 blast furnace, totally renovated in 1976 (see refection schema below), was only started in 1988 due to the unfavorable economic situation. It is fed by a lift tower (called Staehler dumpster) in contrast to conventional blast furnaces which are fed by skips. Clabecq is a well known example of this.The factory ceased operations in 1991 and all the blast furnaces were stopped. Blast furnace N°1 was demolished with dynamite a few years later and today only the blast furnace N°4 will be preserved.

The buildings they inhabit in these pages—the Michigan Central Station, Vanity Ballroom, Cass Tech High School and others—held a central place in the story of Detroit’s Auto Century. It was America’s story, too. Detroiters lived, loved, toiled, played, celebrated and dreamed great dreams in these buildings and thereby helped shape a nation.

Another shot of the famous (at least in the urbex world) chair and operating lamp at an abandoned soviet hospital hidden by the forests of Germany. One of my favorite places. Just had to process one of these old shots again... :) A classic.

The room contained an antique metal bed, a wooden table and a cupboard against a far wall. On the bed were four dolls laying next to each other, placed facing feet first toward the open door. The dolls were in various states of decay and appear to have been there for quite some time.
Each of the dolls were stripped of their clothes, with this, the only one with shoes on. I was drawn to the texture in the shoes, but also wanted the hand in focus as well, so I took 2 shots and manually focus stacked them in post.

In Gdansk – a charming city in Northern Poland – there is a hill. Some people still calling it “Devil’s Hill” The old legend says that ages ago this little hill surrounded by deep forest and swamps was favourite place for witches and gatherings, during which some nasty types of demons were summoned.Legend also says that a very big stone on the top of the hill was brought there by a devil.We are not sure why, but many citizens believe that because of that legend many years later a small group of freemasonry’s settled down in that area. As a reminder of their existence they left a beautiful XIX century Mansion.
Since 1886 mansion was a home for Zinglers restaurant, between 1925 and 1933 it became a HQ of Gdansk Freemason’s lodge.
After WW2 for a many years it used to be local TV station headquarters, before that many occupants were selling the building as they have been disturbed by ”unknown” forces.Today the Grade II building stays derelict. No one cares about it. Inside many unstable floors. South wing of building didn’t survive last winter ( two floors collapsed ) whole building still standing thanks to solid external wall.

| Wormhole - Underground pre-metro system in Antwerp |
The Antwerp Premetro is a network, consisting of lines 2, 3, 5, 6 and 15 of the Antwerp Tram system. It is a 1000 mm rail gauge system, which runs underground in the city centre and further out on surface lines, which are separated from motor traffic. It is intended eventually to evolve into a full metro, similar to the Brussels Metro or German StadtbahnsIt was planned at the beginning of the 1970s to build a completely underground network with a length by 15 km and 22 stations. However, due to financial difficulties only 11 stations have been built. The network is now operated by De Lijn.
The first 1.3 km section opened on 25 May 1975 between Opera, Meir and Groenplaats. Further sections were opened in 1980, 1990, 1996 and 2006. The newest station is at Schijnpoort in the northeast of the system.

| Abandoned power station |
This power station was built in 1913 by architect Eugène Dhuicque for Centrales Electriques de Flandres. The reason for this power station was the extension and development of an industrial area near the docks just outside the city. The plant was completed one year later.
Several new stations were built on this site. In 1959 a new station was built that used coal, gas and oil as fuel. In 1974 a steam turbine was built for the local paper factory.
In the 2000s there was no more need for steam for the surrounding factories, this part was closed and abandoned ever since. A new modern station was built right next to the old one.
